Wondering what is a resonable price on a 2004 Jeep grand cherokee and if they are good vehicles??
Question by happygirl22: Wondering what is a resonable price on a 2004 Jeep grand cherokee and if they are good vehicles??
I am thinking about buying a 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee it is a special edition 4WD, it has 46,000 miles on it, 6cylinder, 4.0L engine, has everything leather seats, sunroof heated seats. Was Just wondering on more opionions on Jeep Cherokee and if this seems like a resonable price before really considering it. My mother has a 1987 Jeep Cherokee and it has over 200,000 miles on it runs great, but that can just be a lucky one out of the bunch. Please tell me what you think it will help me out alot Thank You!!!

Jeeps are the most unsafe cars on the market.
You didn’t mention the asking price. I’m sure you’ve checked the blue book. As for the vehicle, it’s the best damn vehicle I ever bought. It’s got the 4.0L straight six. That engine has been around for over 50 years (carburated in the old days). It’s essentially the same as the old Chevy six.
As for performance, if my front tires touched it before my bumper, that car would climb it. I chased elk thru the Rockies with my Wagoneer.
BTW, I still have my ’89 Wagoneer. It’s beat up, but it runs like new. It’s got over 300,000 miles and I’d still drive it to the west coast (I have several times) from N Y.
Buy it and enjoy. And don’t be afraid to do the back woods.
Sounds like a fair deal but I’ll warn you this….Once you buy a Jeep you’ll always own one. They are more addictive than drugs and alcohol combined. Do an oil change every 2500 miles or so and it’ll last you many years. Add a lift kit, bigger tires and a rear locker and everyone will want to go play with you. I was married for 7 years before my wife would drive my Jeep and once that happened she went out and bought her own. She hasn’t been without one since and that’s been 16 years. Decent mileage 19-22 mpg and will go anywhere.
Price? Sorry cant help. Car itself, I had a 99 Grand Cherokee Limited (Basically the same car as a 2004 minus a few refinements). Great car in many respects, ordinary in others. I have owned a number of BMWs over the past 15 years (not bragging just a fact) however when kids arrived and it came time for a big comfy family wagon I just couldnt justify the cost of an X5. I purchased a Grand Cherokee V8 Limited and initially loved it. The fuel consumption was always high but I thought I knew that before I purchased it. It turned out to be a bit higher than I thought however!! (I note you are looking at a 6cyl so may be better?) The performance was excellent (V8 sounded great). The build quality I found suprisingly good (Austrian assembled) and the car as a whole was well designed and very comfortable. The leaf spring suspension is a bit old school and the rear end was a bit soft and “wobbly”. Repair costs were quite high however except for an axel seal, starter motor, window motor, seat heater, front axel and wheel bearing it was reliable (all in 18 months)…………………………. Used enough fuel to send me broke. Ended up selling it as it simply cost an arm and a leg to run. Bought another BMW as it worked out cheaper when combining the fuel, repair, repayments and resale costs! Bottom line is I have mixed feelings about theJEEP…………….. If they used less fuel and were a little more reliable I would be addicted however………………….MAGNIFICENT OFF ROAD during the 2 times I went off road! I guess it depends what you use it for? As a daily commuter NO! Purely onroad NO! As a weekend toy YES! Offroad YES!! I have heard the diesel version (Mercedes diesel engine) is a rocket and has really good fuel consumption although I haven’t driven one?? Maybee worth a look?? Bit pricey though (at least in Australia). Just my opinion, hope its some help.
if i we’re you I’d check kelly blue book, they have a website on yahoo auto’s, they’ll tell you exactly what it’s worth,
