Will the Tata Nano every be available in the US? Is it legal to drive such a small car in the US?
I just read an article about how the Tata Nano will change the lives of millions in India. What chance will Americans have to buy the car? Do you think the car would be a hit here?

It’s not coming to the U.S, and no, it wouldn’t be a hit. Think how well the Smart car sold in America…
No i don’t think it will
[no offense to any Indians intended]

At a recent press meet, Ratan tata announced they have plans to bring the Nano to the US in 2-3 yrs time.
The car would have to be meet US Safety norms, and it would be legal.
Being a hit or not would depend,on the economic situations prevailing and gas prices.
If it comes over here and we have to call customer service, will we get an American on the line?
no
There’s a European version of the Nano being developed, with a larger, three-cylinder engine and more safety gear; it would be that version that comes to the States, a couple of years from now. The price, of course, will be much higher than the $2000 range; I’m expecting somewhere around $7500, which is still pretty cheap for a new car.
