Why has the Bugatti Veyron not been tested on the Top Gear test track?

1001bhp… You’d think they would want to take that out and set a lap time!

perhaps they havent gotten the go ahead from bugatti yet? like, ultimatly i imagine they have to get some sort of permission from the car companys to do test laps and things? maybe not, but i think they must. because it would require some hella large budget if they were just outright buying these cars. so i imagine bugatti would have to loan them one

idk, im kinda curious too. thats my favorite part of the show is the test laps.

though im forced to watch it on bbc america so im still watching episodes from two years ago. god i wish bbc would get more up to date on that

edit: drew, thank you for getting me up to speed (no pun intended) i probably just missed that episode. hopefully it plays again cause now im curious. and thank you to the other person (sorry, didnt quite catch your name before i started typing) for clearing up the price issue. i knew it would have something to do with the hefty price tag

Actually the Bugatti has made an appearance on Top Gear. James May had it up to 257 mph out on a German track but not to their test track.

I’ve heard that nobody wanted to lend Top Gear one for testing around their track.

If they do test one, they should also try the SSC Ultimate Aero, which Jeremy Clarkson mocked once on the show.

Bugatti would not let anyone use the Veyron on any test track, other than a straight line. bugatti did this to ensure that none of there 1.8 million dollar cars got wrecked because an inexperianced (or unfortunate) driver made a very humanly mistake and met a wall doing 100 MPH. There was an article on BBC.com about it a while back. You’ll notice that nobody has any track times for it (unless the owner themselves tracked it)

They said that in the one of the episodes.

Bugatti will not let Top Gear take the Veyron to their test track.

In that episode, Jeremy Clarkson said that and he said if anyone is willing to let us borrow it for the track, that would be great.

So far, no one is letting Top Gear borrow a Bugatti for the track.

we r not the same i am a martian says in August 29th 2010 at 3:57 am

they keep trying to get one, bugatti wouldn’t give them one and then they asked if anyone had one that they would let them borrow because some of those cars are gotten that way but nobody would give theirs up so they are yet to go around the track with it.
