What year did Pontiac quit putting pontiac motors in the trans-ams, firebirds, formulas,?

I have a pontiac 400 motor and 400 turbo transmission, and I want to put it in a 82 to 88 style firebird, transam. I don’t want the smoky and the bandit style, I would like it, but too expensive. Any pontiac buffs want to help me out, I would apreciate it. Any feed back on how hard it would be to put this motor in a chevy based pontiac would be great too.

The vehicles were, for the most part, powered by various V8 engines of different GM divisions. While primarily Pontiac-powered until 1977, Firebirds were built with several different engines from nearly every GM division until 1982 when all Pontiac motors were dropped in favor of corporate motors.

Yea, what tin can said. the last ‘Pontiac’ V8 was the 1981 4.9, which was available both natural and turbocharged. The last 400 was in 1979, in the 10th anniversayy T/A with 4 speed stick (the autos got 403 ci Olds motors), and the last 455 was in 1976, IIRC. All Firebirds from 1982 – 2002 had ‘Corporate’ engines, AKA Chevy small blocks, or a version of a V6.
