Question by : What is your opinion on the new 2006 Toyota SCIOn Xa Hatchback?
Similar cars include:
Honda Fit, Yaris, Aveo, and the 2005-06 Cavalier.
We are planning to buy the Scion Xa Hatchback, but I wanted the public opinion as well.
Note: For those uneducated people, the XA is Not the SQAURE SHAPED ONE. The XA is the Hatchback..

Go with a Toyota Matrix or it’s sister car the Pontiac Vibe instead. Look for deals! When they are on sale you can get them for a few hundred more than the xA, but it’s worth it. Base models for both the Matrix and Vibe have almost 25 more horses than anything you listed with almost the same gas mileage per gallon.
I agree with amosunknown, the new Dodge Caliber looks cool too!
Iam not a scion fan. This is like buying A&F because the tv told you to. But that is me personaly. Theyre owned by toyota, and i would feel better, on a personal level, buying the yaris. Any four cylinder toyota will run for the next fourty thousand years.
If youre going to consider the cavalier, why no pay a few extra thousand for the new Dodge caliber. Have you seen those things? They look like they could eat your babies and poop gold. I love a beastly vehicle. They start at about 14k, get around 33 to the gallon, and have crisper cooler glove boxes, which i think is neat if youre a mom and have bottles to keep cool on long trips, or beer. whatever.
But then again iam a die hard dodge fan, ive owned other makes, but none of them have withstood my abuse as gracefuly as the dodge.
I looked at the Scion, the Toyota Yaris and the Honda Fit when looking at new cars recently. The Scion is still a relatively new name, even though Toyota does the production. A guy at the Toyota dealership said it’s their test run company, so they only put things out under the Scion name to test and see whether they sell well. That’s a red flag to me.
The Yaris doesn’t have much cargo space so I don’t like that one at all.
I ended up purchasing the Honda Fit. It’s a big seller overseas and will probably do well in the sates with gas costs going up. It gets 30-44 miles per gallon and so far, I have found that to be true with mine. The back seats fold completely flat without having to remove any seat parts, which opens up tons of cargo space. It drives well in teh city and on the highway. It doesn’t have tons of cubbies but that’s not a make it or break it for me anyway.
If you’re looking to compare you can go to Edmunds.com and compare all 3 models side by side. I would rank them as follows #1 Fit, #2 Scion #3 Yaris (because it’s reviews are bad and nothing comes standard.
