Question by U.S. Army Combat Vet: What causes treading on my front tires to wear out but not my back tires treading?
My front tires are low on treading but my back tires are just fine. I need to know also how much it’ll cost me to buy 2 new tires for my Jeep Grand Cherokee (2000) Laredo or how much almost new tires would cost me?
This is a V-6.

If it’s a front wheel drive, then that’s why. Your front tires do all the pulling and the back tires are just along for the ride.

Why not rotate the front to the back while you look for the new tires.
The front wheel drive is the most logical reason as others have stated, but also check and make sure your tire pressure is correct. Improper inflation can lead to extra wear on tires as well.

You should rotate your tires every 6000 miles or every other oil change. You should get an alignment once a year.
Front wheel drive causing the excessive wear. Take it easy on your starts.
Where I’m from you’re looking at anywhere from 180 to 250 dollars each for your tires(new)

None of you know anything about the question you’re answering. A Jeep Grand Cherokee is rear wheel drive or possibly AWD with the back doing most of the work. So your front wheel drive answers are nonsense. The front wear faster because that’s where the weight is and they do most of the braking.
Yep, if it’s 4WD (and 4WD is engaged most of the time) then the fronts tend to wear quicker as they take most of the load with the heavy V8, steering, weight-shift to front from hard braking, and propulsion. This is the case in most all AWD cars too.
I’ve never seen a FWD Jeep Cherokee LOL!

the front tires are wearing because of an alignment problem. there is too much toe in or out, or a camber or caster problem. not all alignment problems show up as a pull. you need to have the jeep aligned when you buy tires or risk ruining the new ones too.
You are probably toed in or toed out….you need an alignment. If its wearing out on the outside of the tires then you are toed out, if its wearing out on the inside of the tires then you are toed in….you need to rotate your tires as reccomended and get an alignment. If you have had an alignment, then you have something going on with your front end. Your stabilizer could be bent, this is a main cause. The cost of tires varies, depending on the size and what kind you want…you need to do some research on your own. If you buy tires, find a place that does alignments and have it all done at the same time.
First you have a I6 or inline 6 not a V6.
You Jeep might need an alignment, if you front end is not tracking correct then one or both tires could be faceing in or out, this could happen from hitting a potholes to a curb.
Take it to a garage that does alignments and ask them if they can take a quick check to see if they need aligned.
You looking at about $ 100 a tire and depending how much it cost to mount and balance them you will be higher, shop around, Walmart has some good deals.
