Volvo S60 Launched in India At Competitive Price

Volvo S60 is one of the best products of Swedish automaker Volvo. This Swedish automobile brand landed its foot in India in 1998. Since its launch Volvo is constantly introducing new models one by one in the country and Volvo S60 is the latest in its line-up. The company has officially announced that the launch of this five seater sedan on 2011 March 10th.

Volvo S60 is to be the cheapest of Volvo cars in India. The lovely sedan has been competitively priced at 27 and 34 lacs with 3 variants. Most of the Volvo cars in India are completely built unit (CBU) and the VolvoS60 too will be a CBU. Mercedes Benz C-Class cars, Audi A4 and BMW-3 Series are some of the models that would compete with S60 in India.

The styling of Volvo S60 is more or less similar to Volvo XC60 as the roofline and front panel has a striking resemblance to the XC60. Coming to engine part, S60 is equipped with 2.4 Liter turbo diesel engine that has the capacity to churn out maximum power of 205 bhp at the rate of 4000 rpm and maximum torque of 42 kgm at the rate of 1500 and 3200 rpm. At top speed the car can reach 230 kms per hour and in just 7.8 seconds it can reach 0 to100 km. For the record similar kind of engine specification is already available in Volvo crossover XC60 as well.

Volvo S60 in India is the second generation car, which is known for advanced safety features. In fact, some of the safety features like Blind Line Information System (BLIS), Pedestrian Detection, City Safety System and lane departure control are never seen before any other cars in India. The company was designing these advanced systems for a decade and at last it has installed them in Volvo S60.

The safety expert of Volvo Cars named Thomas Broberg explains, “”Up until now, we have focused on helping the driver avoid collisions with other vehicles. Now we are taking a giant step forward with a system that also boosts safety for unprotected road-users. New sensor technology also makes it possible to advance from 50 percent to full automatic braking power. To our knowledge, none of our competitors have made such progress in this area.

Volvo S60 has stylish exterior as it look like a coupe. It has a huge front grille with wide air dam in which a stylish signature of Volvo is designed. The tail-lamps are trendy and sporty, which makes S60 stands unique among its rivals. The mini spoiler and mounted shark fin roof are additional attraction to the car’s exterior. Coming to the external measurement, the car has the dimensions of 4628 mm length, 1585 mm width and 1484 mm height.

Volvo S60 might be the cheapest car of Volvo in India but in general the car is pretty costlier this is mostly because the car comes as a completely built unit that that costs 110% of import duties. Volvo is the sole manufacturer of Volvo S60 and the company is importing it from Belgium.
