Vancouver Condos; Why so Popular?
Vancouver was first chosen as a settlement in the 1860s and it has since become the busiest seaport in Canada ever since.
Most Vancouver condos give great views of water and mountain because Vancouver is basically surrounded by ocean and mountains. Vancouver condos also have a convenient access to downtown and all the amenities and public places like the Stanley Park Seawall, the beaches, parks and waterfront. Living in a condominium unit in Vancouver is relatively more popular than townhouses and lofts.
Vancouver condos are particularly popular for their scenery. But the most determining specification of Vancouver’s cityscape is the density. The development of high-rise residential condos, in Vancouver especially in Vancouver downtown, was deliberately encouraged in 1950s & 1960s to create a dense urban core. The city planners also initiated an urban planning movement encouraging high-rise residential condos and mixed-use development in urban locations. This has caused Vancouver to be constantly ranked highly in terms of livability.
Vancouver still continues to increase density and to create quality neighborhoods today. The density of Vancouver condos is especially high around major transportation routes and the stations particularly of SkyTrain at Metrotown. The growing construction of parks, cultural facilities and community centers has helped owning a condo unit, or any type of property, be more economical.
At Vancouver condos, there is usually at least one parking space for each unit. The parking lots of Vancouver condos are usually made underground. You will be charged monthly for the management and upkeep of the common areas of your Vancouver condo to be covered. This is called ‘the maintenance charge’ and is calculated based on either the unit entitlement or the square footage of your Vancouver condo unit.
However, the monthly maintenance charges for Vancouver condos are generally less than the ones in Toronto, for instance, for comparable condos. This is mostly because there is less snow removal in Vancouver and therefore salt damages to common and public areas and facilities are considerably less.
Another determining factor that has made Vancouver condos popular is the weather of Vancouver. In winters, Vancouver is the 4th warmest city in Canada. Summers of Vancouver are generally sunny with moderate temperature accompanied by sea breezes. The maximum average temperature in July & August is 22 °C (72 °F) reaching 26 °C (78 °F) at times.
Living in a condominium home in Vancouver has always been popular and is becoming even more desirable as the city grows.
