toyota sienna?
Question by nothingman02: toyota sienna?
Hey guys..I need some help please…I work in a gas station and dont really have a whole lot of money..dont have a car either…my boss said I could have his 1999 Toyota Sienna minivan for 500 bucks if I wanted it. But it has 365000 miles…He got the van brand new in 1999 and has been a single owner and used it only for getting groceries for the store from atlanta (2 hours away..we’re in alabama)…Hence its all highway miles but he said theres some problem with oil problem and some shaking and stuff. he doesnt know much about cars and i havent seen it yet..he parked it in atlanta and we are going tomorrow to get it here..please let me know what you guys think about it.. I dont have a whole lot of money..and don’t want it to break down after i buy it…i need to drive it to dallas too…please help…is it worth it if i put a better used engine with lower miles? the rest of the car still would have 365000 miles

If you plan on getting that vehicle, be prepared to spend a few thousand $ on repairs and maintenance. Its not worth getting a replacement engine. The engine alone probably is worth 1/3 of any car’s value. A new engine for that vehicle might be worth like 10K at least. You probably wouldn’t be able to find an used engine. If I were you I would think about saving up for a new toyota corolla. It’s the most economical choices out there. OK, the engine does suck… but as long as you don’t treat it like a AWD, you should be fine. (and it should last a very long time)

Are you kidding me , for 500 bucks drive that thing until it dies!!!!!!! Do the least amount of maintance to it and just drive that sucka!!! As long as it is safe to drive of course.
As long as the oil changes have been done and timing belts have been changed should be ok.
Not seeing it I don;t know what condition it is in.
If it has small oil leaks and you don’t want to spend money just keep adding to it.
My sister traided hers in with 195,000 and still running great, she just wanted a new one, it was a 1998.
worth 500$ thats for shure
