Toyota of Naperville Offers Buyers a Chance to Test A “Real Truck”

Toyota of Naperville Offers Buyers a Chance to Test A “Real Truck”

Naperville, IL (Vocus) November 3, 2010

Toyota of Naperville, a leading Toyota dealership featuring both new and used Toyota cars and trucks, now offers consumers looking for a rugged, multipurpose sport utility vehicle an exciting opportunity to experience Toyota’s legendary 4Runner SUV.

4Runner is set apart from the current crowd of “crossover” SUVs by its continuing reliance on traditional “body on frame” construction. In fact, whereas this used to be an everyday feature common to nearly all SUVs, it now sets the 4Runner apart. “The traditional mid-size SUV may have been the definitive vehicle of the 1990s, but it’s an endangered species now,” wrote Popular Mechanics in its review of the new 4Runner. But, as PM noted, Toyota still believes in that tradition: “Whistling right past the SUV graveyard is the new, fifth-generation, 2010 Toyota 4Runner,” the magazine quipped.

In fact, there is still a place for a real truck-base SUV. Crossovers offer enhanced ride and handling on the road, but there are individuals whose jobs take them into the uncharted territories off road. And there are those who live in places where the weather can be very unpredictable. And there are those who enjoy pastimes that mean occasional trips to places crossovers fear to tread. For those who meet such descriptions, Toyota has the answer: The 2011 Toyota 4Runner.

Mild-mannered on the road, As Popular Mechanics notes, “Off-road is where the 4Runner is a stunner. While the Limited comes with a full-time all-wheel drive system, the SR5 and Trail use a part-time system operated by making a satisfying tug on a real live lever next to the shifter. With its 33-degree approach angle and sure-footed suspension, the 4Runner is in the same league as the Jeep Wrangler–and that’s high praise indeed.”

The new 4Runner gets its off-road capabilities not only from its traditional truck DNA, but from a significant infusion of technological know-how. The 4Runner offers, in its three variations, such features as part-time or full-time four-wheel drive, Multi-Terrain Select, Crawl Control (CRAWL), Active Traction Control (A-TRAC), and Kinetic Dynamic Suspension System (KDSS).

CRAWL is an “electro-mechanical system” that allows the driver to select an option to match the terrain. “The system,” states Toyota, “maintains an appropriate speed that keeps the vehicle under control and minimizes the load on drivetrain and suspension components. The CRAWL feature helps make traversing difficult terrain easier and safer.”

Another great feature is the 4Runner’s Active Traction Control (A-TRAC) system. In 4-wheel drive, A-Trac will help maintain traction in mud or water. In addition, for terrain that proves slippery, like mud or sand, the Trail model 4Runner has a handy feature called the Multi-Terrain Select system. By simply making a “wheel-slip control” selection for the type of terrain to be encountered, slip is minimized allowing the driver to continue on their way.

“Also, offered as an option on the Trail grade” 4Runner, says Toyota, “is (the) Kinetic Dynamic Suspension System (KDSS). KDSS radically improves terrain-following ability by disconnecting stabilizer bars to allow for more axle travel and better suspension articulation in slow, difficult terrain.”

For those who need a tough vehicle, a real truck instead of a car pretending to be a truck, then the 4Runner is the best choice. And shoppers looking for a 4Runner in the Chicago area can stop in at Toyota of Naperville where a Toyota sales professional will help identify the perfect 4Runner for any need.
