Toyota of Naperville Offers Buyers a Chance to Test A “Real Truck”

The 4Runner offers, in its three variations, such features as part-time or full-time four-wheel drive, Multi-Terrain Select, Crawl Control (CRAWL), Active Traction Control (A-TRAC), and Kinetic Dynamic Suspension System (KDSS).

CRAWL is an “electro-mechanical system” that allows the driver to select an option to match the terrain. “The system,” states Toyota, “maintains an appropriate speed that keeps the vehicle under control and minimizes the load on drivetrain and suspension components. The CRAWL feature helps make traversing difficult terrain easier and safer.”

Another great feature is the 4Runner’s Active Traction Control (A-TRAC) system. In 4-wheel drive, A-Trac will help maintain traction in mud or water. In addition, for terrain that proves slippery, like mud or sand, the Trail model 4Runner has a handy feature called the Multi-Terrain Select system. By simply making a “wheel-slip control” selection for the type of terrain to be encountered, slip is minimized allowing the driver to continue on their way.

“Also, offered as an option on the Trail grade” 4Runner, says Toyota, “is (the) Kinetic Dynamic Suspension System (KDSS). KDSS radically improves terrain-following ability by disconnecting stabilizer bars to allow for more axle travel and better suspension articulation in slow, difficult terrain.”
