well it was nice knowing you RX-8…
RX-8′s do need to be taken care of but its not rocket science. Engine carbon deposits are its only real enemy. Use correct fuel, correct oil, let the engine run (don’t continually stop start the engine) and don’t sit in traffic day after day without giving the engine a work out. If your a lady that will use it for short city trips in traffic jams, forget it, its not for you. They have to be driven
We have stopped selling these cars as they are hard work to maintain and the fuel consumption is not very good to say the least! I know its a sports car but even our Mazda dealers are telling us to avoid them! Im told they have now discontinued the car because of these reasons?! Shame cos it drives very well!

@d00df00d OK,but still…… This country (Norway) is SO “car hostile” that 1 liter-1/4 of a gallon costs close to 14 NOK.Thats aprox 2 US $ and a few cents.So 8 USD+ for a gallon.The money that will put you in a BMW 1M coupe in the U.K will get you a stripped down BMW X1 1.8 here.And the morons in government i don`t think they used the formula you just said.They just thought “How do we get more money out of this?Small engine,big power?DOUBLETAX IT! And we re a oil-nation.Go figure…..

In a 4-stroke piston engine, each piston gets one firing pulse every TWO rotations of the crankshaft. That’s why some people treat Wankel engines as though they have double their displacement.
Let me tell you how FUCKED UP it is beeing a petrolhead in my country.They tax cars on (among other things) displacement.And when the gov. found out about the RX 7 and 8 and saw that they could miss out on a few bucks they came up with THIS whopper:Cars with wankel engines are taxed as having twice the displacement.1.3 wankel=2.6 liter in taxes.Fact!

New belts for a car are $15-$50, and take minutes to replace, so if you pay a mechanic to do it, you are a fool. Downshift damage only occurs when you don’t match up your RPM’s before you release the clutch (duh!). If you’re going to be pushing a car, you need to know the car, or you’re just a moron. Lastly, hard driving, or of any kind, puts excessive wear & tear on a car. If you push it & can’t afford belts, seals, & other wear and tear parts, then you are a FOOL.
