Superior Engineering and Design
Thule snow chains are hand-made in Italy and are constructed of durable, hardened manganese nickel alloy steel. They feature dual-sided D-shaped links that provide exceptional traction and extend the life of the product. These snow chains utilize a patented self-centering and auto-tensioning system which adjusts itself for a perfect fit. Once the chains are wrapped around the tire, the installation process is completed when the vehicle is set in motion. As the wheels turn, the self-centering and auto-tensioning system activates and the chain tightens around the tire. This eliminates the need to exit your vehicle and brave the elements to re-adjust snow chains. For easier installation in the dark or during the day, all attachment points on the chains are color coded. Additionally, each set of Thule tire chains comes with a hard case, installation mat, pair of gloves, and spare links.

Thule XB-16 – Specifically Designed for Heavy Duty Applications
If you frequently travel off-road or drive a large vehicle, Thule has created a snow chain just for you. The XB-16 features 16mm D-link chain, the largest and most rugged that Thule offers. This large-diameter chain bites deeply into snow and ice, giving large commercial vehicles and motor homes unsurpassed traction control and safety. The color-coded assembly points and quick-adjust tension control band allow for hassle-free fitting. Removal is just as fast. Simply lifting the tension control hook out of the chain link frees it from your wheel, allowing quick and easy removal. Functional, practical and economical–Thule XB-16 is the snow chain that gives you confidence both on and off the road.

How to Choose a Snow Chain that Fits Perfectly
To choose the right snow chain you must follow a few simple criteria. First, check your vehicle’s maintenance or owner’s manual to verify it contains no warnings advising against the fitting of snow chains on your particular vehicle. Once verified, take careful note of the three measurements on the side of the tire. The first number indicates the width, the second gives you the aspect ratio (sidewall height as percentage of width) and the third denotes the diameter of the wheel expressed in inches. Then click on the Thule Snow Chain Fitment Guide to choose the most suitable model and size for your vehicle.

These chains are easy on & off, and work great on my driveway (1+ mile long, uphill dirt & gravel road) in Upstate New York. Great traction in snow and or ice as well. Highly recommend. Also, they were ordered on one day and came the very next!

These are solid chains, and don’t feel as flimsy as cables. My friend’s snow cables broke on his way down from Big Bear Lake, CA. He had just bought them the day before. The instructions are fairly simple to follow, and the colored links make it simple to determine where to connect everything. (You can see the red connections in the picture.) You may have to drive a little bit and then re-tighten the links since each chain is made for several different sized tires. This is easily done by disconnecting one connection and pulling it tighter before reconnecting it.

When I put these on my 2007 Honda CR-V, I was easily done in a few minutes for each tire. While other people were getting stuck at the snow/iced filled parking lot in Big Bear using their cables, I was able to easily get out without a single problem.

Use to the “old style” chains, so it took a little longer than expected to figure out how to attach them the first time.

After that, they are fast to put on and take off. Worked well on steep, ice and packed snow inclines.

Purchased two sets for Tundra 4×4. I suggest you spend some dry-time learning the product as they are unique to install.

I live in the National Forest with no road service for private property. Three months of snow and ice made the steep climb impossible without traction. One chain on each wheel, extra low 4wd, no problems over 18+” snow and ice pack. You will get wet and you will get dirty when field installing. Comes in a nice, two-chain-case with drawings for instructions. A good buy. I never leave home without them in my emergency kit.
