For around $ 25K, I can get a 2003-2005 BMW M3 (e46) or a 2008 VW R32. The BMW has a higher performance envelope, but the R32 has AWD and I live in Colorado. However, I do not like R32 without the manual transmission option. I do have another 4WD vehicle for nasty conditions. Which would be the better purchase? I bought a 2004 Jaguar XJ (first year of this version) pre owned in early 2007 at the depreciated value , it has given me nothing but issues, especially with its taillights, which are supposed to last for a long time.
