Sylvania H7 SU BP TWIN SilverStar Ultra Headlight – Pack of 2

  • Plug and play orientation means that SilverStar Ultra bulbs can be installed as easily as standard halogen bulbs
  • 100% street legal and the whitest and brightest headlight currently available
  • Up to 40% increased down-road visibility and rated at up to 50% brighter light than standard halogen headlight bulbs
  • Increases side-road (peripheral) visibility by approximately 50%
  • Includes 2 Sylvania H7 SU BP 128V, 55W SilverStar Ultra High Performance halogen headlights

Product Description
Sylvania SilverStar Ultra Headlight is fashioned for brighter and whiter light. It has dual filament for both high beam and low beam. This operates with internal gas pressure which significantly reduces the rate of tungsten evaporation. Its analogous non-halogen incandescent lamp operates the same filament temperature with greater luminance and efficiency. This combined effect of higher pressure and the halogen cycle give halogen lamp much longer life.

These Sylvania Silver star Ultra bulbs are not what is in the package. The package is correctly labled but the bulbs in the package are the standard bulb, part number 64210 with a output of 3300, not the 4100 power Silver Stars with part number H7ST as advertised. I sent them back with a full explanation but was sent the same “incorrectly packed” item. No one was intersted in looking into the problem. Could it be a deliberate rip off?

Anyone that owns a Volvo knows that their policy of not wanting to blind the passing cars at night leaves you with very little distance or throw of light from the OEM bulbs. It dim and it’s yellow. We have been using the Ultra for 3 years now, and prefer them over the OEM and the regular Silverstars. Now that we have added the fix for the constant burned out bulbs, these are lasting a lot longer than they used to :)

These bulbs do perform well but both bulbs failed within a week of each other after 8 months. The OEM bulbs on my 2001 BMW 330xi lasted 7 years and looked almost as good.

After using the H7 Silverstar in two cars over the last few years, I was getting frustrated with their short life, and tried the “Ultra” version, which claimed longer life. As noted in some of the other reviews, the light is pretty good, but these too have a very short life. The two I purchased burned out within 4 months, and that gets very expensive quickly. After using the Silverstar products for the last 4 years in our cars, I am never using them again.

These are seriously the WORST headlights ever. Sure, they are a bit brighter than the cheap, OEM ones, but it comes at a huge cost in the life of the bulbs.

These burn out fast. Very fast. After some research, it seems that the Silverstar headlights are supposed to burn around 300 hours. The cheapie headlights last around 1000 hours.

So let me get this straight: I’m paying $25 per bulb for 300 hours when I could be paying $7 per bulb for 1000 hours?! All for a bit more light output?!
