Short Takes: 2001 Ford Explorer Sport Trac (Start Up, Engine, Tour)

In continuation of my “Short Takes” video series at All City Auto, I give a tour of a 2001 Ford Explorer Sport Trac. I take viewers on a close look through the interior and exterior of this truck while showing details, over viewing of features, and noting unique styling cues to the vehicle itself. I also show the engine and the details of it, start it up and see how it sounds under acceleration. A thorough tour/review of this truck designed to give others a greater overall appreciation of the vehicle.

Looks just like my car… I got a 2002 w/ 90k miles, and never had one single problem with it. Only bad thing is the interior so cheap its disintegrating.

A Friend of mine and myy family’s has one of these. I have rode in Brook’s many numerous times, a very unique truck, doesn’t ride the best, they ride rough! Brook’s is a 2004 XLT with Heated Black Leather Interior instead of cloth. But other than that it looks just like hers.

I own one and it’s really a gas guzzler vehicle!!

yellowcow13 says in August 10th 2011 at 2:47 am

Lookin to buy one of these. Good idea? or a Explorer 2001-2005 gen

talldude123 says in August 10th 2011 at 3:42 am

@tozir14 Not much at all, you could easily get an 01 for $3K if you looked hard! Mileage doesn’t matter, Ford builds their engines well, my friends Sport Trac has the same mileage as this one, starts up fine, no major repairs needed, good solid truck!

tozir14 says in August 10th 2011 at 4:36 am

id like to get something like this (maybe a little less mileage), whats a good price range to expect?

kendrickevans301 says in August 10th 2011 at 4:54 am

@speacialperson12345 yea

speacialperson12345 says in August 10th 2011 at 5:01 am

@kendrickevans301 yea, i thought this would be common sense, but i guess not.

kendrickevans301 says in August 10th 2011 at 5:02 am

@speacialperson12345 hope so, i write on everything “DON’T GO OFFROADING IN A AWD OR 2WD LOL”

speacialperson12345 says in August 10th 2011 at 5:50 am

@kendrickevans301 hopefully people will learn…eventually

kendrickevans301 says in August 10th 2011 at 6:31 am

@speacialperson12345 yep, that’s right

toyota4life94 says in August 10th 2011 at 7:27 am

@saabkyle04 lol just pulling your leg.

speacialperson12345 says in August 10th 2011 at 8:00 am

@kendrickevans301 haha, i love ford trucks and SUV’s, and i never knew the caliber had AWD…and just to add, 4 wheel drive is off road, like uve said, well just compare them 4wd offroad is with jeeps, trucks, etc, well u know…nd awd mainly on gravel with luxury/also some i guess sports cars or whatever u wana call them, nd rally but not climbing rocks and driving through mud puddles, theres a non mechanical, i guess comparison, idk what i was trying to get at there, but u kind understand? lol

kendrickevans301 says in August 10th 2011 at 8:45 am

@speacialperson12345 yea, also i watched a video off someone taking there AWD dodge caliber offroad, it was very funny indeed, he had to call his friend in the ford expe 4WD to rescue him lol

speacialperson12345 says in August 10th 2011 at 8:53 am

@kendrickevans301 yup, and they learn the hard way. Ive just had someone say that the VW R32 is 4 wheel drive today, so i schooled them, haha used some of ur info along with mine.

kendrickevans301 says in August 10th 2011 at 9:44 am

@speacialperson12345 i know, i see some people that think that, and they make the mistake of going offroad, thinking it is the same thing, but it’s not

speacialperson12345 says in August 10th 2011 at 10:12 am

@kendrickevans301 OMFG thank you a person with knowledge!! i mean seriously, look at a lot of the comments on videos with, what im looking for, a VW R32 with AWD, lots of people are saying 4WD, and i say no its not, AWD, idk i get aggravated, many other videos as well. Their comments usually say all 4 wheels are spinning, well yea, but its not 4 wheel drive, because 4WD is a different thing, and ur explanation was by far the best ive seen.

kendrickevans301 says in August 10th 2011 at 10:29 am

@speacialperson12345 yes, AWD is where all 4 wheels are spinning at all times, and on luxury cars like audi, and such, it can send power to just one wheel if needed,there is no low range or high range, also 4WD utilizes a t-case in which you can select high, or low, or even automatic, i work on the f-series production line, i know the difference. AWD there is no controls, and 4WD has controls.

speacialperson12345 says in August 10th 2011 at 10:46 am

@kendrickevans301 ok, yea, i thought ud know its 4wd, well because he said it, and i hope ur one of the people who knows there is a difference between AWD and 4WD =)

kendrickevans301 says in August 10th 2011 at 11:43 am

@speacialperson12345 i know, i was refering to saabkyle 04 because of a “conversation” we had about engaging 4WD on a vehicle he records, i know where the controls are because all of my vehicles (2008 expedition, 2011 f-250, 93 bronco, 96 f-250 ) all have the controls there lol, but thanks anyway, good to know someone will atleast answer a question of mine.
