Italian hotels – depending on when it was built & how many stars – have three prong plugs that are different than the rest of Europe’s 2 prong plugs. (On my recent trip, I saw many wall devices that accept both Italian & European plugs, which is good to know.)

This adaptor is really nice & very sturdy. It might look bulky, but it packs well and it plugs perfectly into Italian outlets. I’m really glad I got this for my trip.

I don’t understand why plugs couldn’t have been standardized 100 years ago, but in the absence of that we have this… The Samsonite Grounded Adapter Plug. It may seem a little bulky, but then it accepts a multitude of universal inputs – grounded inputs – which is a feature lacking on many other adapters. It’s nothing special, but it does it’s job at a fair price, and it seems to be made well enough to be around for many years to come.

I live in the Middle East and my home has a combination of English and Italian plugs. Locally purchased adaptors come primarily from China and are not well made or reliable. I wanted something that not only accepted a grounded American plug, but also would not fry or fry my appliances. This fit the bill and was well worth the expense. I would have given it 5 stars, but it’s a bit bulky.

I used this with my grounded Apple laptop power supply in Italy. Worked great!

Worked like a charm in Italy! Charged cell phones, MP3 players, etc with no problems. Recommended.
