Q&A: What to do when a rebuilt salvage car is involved in a car accident and is totaled?

Question by ??????????: What to do when a rebuilt salvage car is involved in a car accident and is totaled?
I had a chevy cavalier rebuilt salvage car. I got involved in a car accident and the car was totaled. The insurance company gave me a check and left me the car. The car has been sitting crashed for like 4 months now. I want to fix it but do I need to do any paperwork? I live in the state of Texas. Can I just fix it and drive it like that?

So the car already has a salvage title?

But now the insurance has it on the books as a total yet again.

I would talk to somebody at your state DMV.

Yes, you can fix it and drive it. Since it already had a salvage title, it can’t have a ‘double’ salvage title. =]
