Q&A: What kind of vehicle do I need for a trip to Yellowstone?

Question by Indischer B: What kind of vehicle do I need for a trip to Yellowstone?
Hi, I am planning a trip to Yellowstone in the first week of July. I plan to drive a Chevy Malibu. I used a used the same vehicle for a trip to South Dakota this month, and it was good.

Is that kinda right? Do I need to have a vehicle with a higher ground clearance? Does it snow a lot in Yellowstone in July?

You won’t have any snow in July in Yellowstone, it’s all melted and the temperatures are quite warm. The Chevy Malibu will work fine…. all roads are paved and driving conditions are “normal”.

Get an RV. They are the best

All the roads are paved so the type of vechile shouldn’t really matter. Just depends on how much you are bringing and how good the gas mileage is.

Altough you problably wont get any snow if you go in July, there still should be some snow on the ground and in the mountains. However, the weather can change at any time. In fact, it just snowed 4 inches in Yellowstone last week.

It is an amazing place and you will have a great time

About anything from a bicycle to a huge RV would work out fine.
Of course it can snow in July in Yellowstone. There are so many tourist vehicles on the roads the snow would’t have a chance to stick to the 100-degree asphalt if it could.
