POWERBALL 6: PERFORMANCE BY FEIST TO BE INCLUDED WHEN A SURREALIST TOMORROW ERUPTS AT POWERBALL 6 On June 3, 2004, beginning at 7:30 pm, The Power Plant Contemporary Art Gallery at Harbourfront Centre hosts Powerball 6. Prepare to indulge the senses.

Toronto (PRWEB) May 29, 2004

The entertainment roster for The Power Plant’s highly anticipated fundraising event, Powerball 6, is heating up and now set to include singer/songwriter Leslie Feist (of Broken Social Scene) whose new cd Let It Die has just been released. Seductive host and vocalist Chris Rouse, will introduce a most unlikely lineup of guests, including an ode to the ghost of Celine Dion, improvised tap jams, body contortions, a phenomenal recreation of a live Barbie doll, DJs Roland Deschamps and Pablo Mozo in the surreal house, and the remaining roster of acts which are still under wraps. One thing is for sure – the blend of art, entertainment, fashion and extravagant cuisine will engulf attendees in an orgasmic spectacle of immense magnitude.

The Power Plant is known (if not notorious) for its mélange of colourful, sophisticated guests, new art, and waterfront venue. This year’s Powerball also features the ‘Power Draw’ raffle with prizes such as flights to New York and London, art tours, Louis Vuitton luggage, a spa retreat, art catalogues, cds, and more. This event is never short of celebrities and we are preparing to unveil the most titillating and star-studded Powerball yet. Set to attend so far are Canadian Idol judges Farley Flex, Jake Gold, and Zack Werner.

Get set for your Holt Renfrew, Stila runway makeover. Imagine hair star, Jie performing hair antics on your tendrils when you arrive. Senses will present a theatrical food experience, a movable feast in a lush, dramatic, multi-media environment.

Powerball 6 will also mark the launch of John Körmeling’s Mobile Fun, presented by Saab Canada. Mobile Fun is a large sculpture in the form of a Ferris wheel – 100-feet in diameter, similar to those found in amusement parks. However, Mobile Fun has one major exception – passenger gondolas are substituted with automobiles that can drive onto the wheel. The artist has chosen four Saab 9-2X vehicles, suspended from four platforms on the giant wheel. A Saab car will be cruising the streets of Toronto throughout the run of Mobile Fun, picking up passengers and driving them directly to the Ferris wheel sculpture for a ride. Powerball revelers will delight in being the first to witness this experiential exhibit that takes you out of your car or off the street for a ride you’ll never forget!

Powerball 6 is generously supported by Lead Sponsor Holt Renfrew and Stila, and Supporting Sponsors Saab Canada, Waddington’s, and Brascan.

The Power Plant Contemporary Art Gallery at Harbourfront Centre is a non-collecting public art gallery dedicated to contemporary visual art. It is a vital forum for the advanced culture of our time that offers an exceptional facility and professional support staff to a diverse range of artists while engaging equally diverse audiences in their work. The Power Plant pursues its activities through exhibitions, publications and educational programming. Christine Davis and Lonti Ebers are the Co-Chairs of Powerball 6. Victoria Jackman is President of the Board of Directors and Wayne Baerwaldt is the Director of The Power Plant.

$ 125 for members and $ 150 for non-members (includes open bar, extravagant appetizers, gallery membership). For Powerball tickets please call 416-973-4000 or visit http://www.thepowerplant.org
