Popular Isuzu Commercial Trucks Dealer, Reynolds Buick GMC Isuzu, Recently Celebrated Their 95th Anniversary with Open House Event
Walnut, CA (Vocus) November 4, 2010
Reynolds Buick GMC Isuzu, known for their popular new and pre-owned Isuzu commercial trucks, was founded on October 21st, 1915, meaning that they are now 95 years old. To celebrate, Reynolds had an open house event on October 21st, 2010 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. which included entertainment, food, and some classic Buick cars. There was jazz music and prizes, and the food was catered by an In-N-Out Burger truck. However, the big attraction was the two classic Buicks that were featured.
The first featured Buick was an original 1965 Buick GS that was completely restored by Jack Mancini, a Buick historian and car buff out of Rhode Island and a friend to Reynolds Buick GMC Isuzu, a tribute to the original a 1965 Buick GS driven by Lenny “Pop” Kennedy and sponsored by Reynolds Buick GMC Isuzu. Mancini had meticulously researched the exact specifications of the 1965 Buick GS driven by Lennie “Pop” Kennedy and sponsored by Reynolds Buick GMC Isuzu in the sixties in order to re-create the vehicle down to the last detail.
In the sixties, Lenny “Pop” Kennedy had driven the original automatic transmission 1965 Buick GS that was sponsored by Reynolds Buick GMC Isuzu. The engine had been blueprinted to stock specs, the heads were treated to a performance valve job, hooker headers were added (and uncorked at the strip), 4.30 gears were fitted, and the rear suspension was fitted with Casler recap tires and a 4.30-geared posi. The 1965 Buick GS made the quarter mile run in 13.42 seconds at 104.46 mph.
The Reynolds Buick GMC Isuzu open house event also featured another historic Buick. This 1970 Buick GS 455, now owned by Guy Parquette, once belonged to Pete Reynolds, who owns Reynolds Buick GMC Isuzu with his son, Don. The car’s history goes back further still; this classic Buick was driven by Lenny “Pop” Kennedy himself. The 1970 Buick GS 455 had previously run the quarter mile run in 10.89 seconds at 126.85 mph. This classic Buick was brought down to California from Wisconsin.
