My 79 Alfa Romeo Spider all of a sudden has gas in the oil. What might account for this and what to do.?
I am not driving it. It has been running a good bit rich. The fuel pressure from the pump is not extreme. The oil is flammable. I am draining the oil and refilling to the mark on the stick to see whether the fluid increases or the oil pressure drops if it starts again. Any thoughts on where the problem may be?
This car has a SPICA mechanical fuel injection system.

If it has a mechanical fuel pump, the diaphram can break, allowing fuel to pass into the crankcase. If it is running rich, it could be the carb flooding and washing down the cylinder walls.
your intake may be leaking
The fuel pump diaphragm has torn, pouring gasoline from the pump into the crankcase. A very common failure for engine driven fuel pumps.
