Hyundai sure has come a long way since the 90′s….now they make class-Competive cars!

That what I liked about MotorWeek, they always showed the good and the bad, no bias unlike todays ads.

I Had a 1991 Hyundai Scoupe it was a great little car. i lived up 400,000km then had a lean out and cooked the valves :( but it was a good car for what it was.

@bajabusta Dude’s right.. The thing was a piece of shit.. Hyundai has come a LONG way in a short time!

sd40u says in November 29th 2011 at 10:47 am

@MrPman851 yes, there is also that. i’ve got the only aspen white ’99 impreza wagon around, there are maybe 4 other imprezas of the time around here

MrPman851 says in November 29th 2011 at 11:20 am

@sd40u, I don’t hate them. I just wouldn’t want to own one because everybody else does.

sd40u says in November 29th 2011 at 12:04 pm

@MrPman851 I too hate korean cars

miniimoto95 says in November 29th 2011 at 12:43 pm

@Kingsoupturbo 91-92 scoupe were the mitsubishi 4g15, 12 valve i think
in 93 hyundai did their own motor based off the 4g15, and a turbo version too, which the exhaust manifold fits the mirage 4g15 for a cheap turbo manifold

APBGrrl says in November 29th 2011 at 1:21 pm

my dad had a few hyundais around this time… i thought the Scoupe was kick ass back then!

Kingsoupturbo says in November 29th 2011 at 1:49 pm

direct copy of the Mitsubishi 1.5 8valve motor, hyundai was licensing from Mitsubishi at the time for that motor and chassis design for the Excel and S-Coupe I’m pretty sure, They didn’t mention the Turbo version of this though! I think that came later

MrPman851 says in November 29th 2011 at 1:57 pm

@link0587, I think only the sedan has the V8. The coupe has just the 4 banger and the V6.

MrPman851 says in November 29th 2011 at 2:22 pm

@link0587, that’s because Top Gear (and Jeremy himself) hates Korean cars, PERIOD!!!

link0587 says in November 29th 2011 at 2:57 pm

@Coffeeholic82 i thought the genesis only came with turboed inline 4 cyl and V6 engines

link0587 says in November 29th 2011 at 3:26 pm

@MrPman851 and Jeremy didn’t know what it was. lol

MrPman851 says in November 29th 2011 at 3:31 pm

@link0587, I saw that, and James May had another name for it; S-Crap.

Noodlesfan says in November 29th 2011 at 3:48 pm

Bought a ’91 Scoupe in Australia this year.
It’s cheap, reliable and with a bit of suspension work and a good set of wheels it’s good fun to drive, at least once it’s up to speed (which does take a while).

Silvertrine says in November 29th 2011 at 3:51 pm

Scoupe-tacular video.

pyroprince78 says in November 29th 2011 at 4:24 pm

@bajabusta lmfao! ‘omg’. lol.

link0587 says in November 29th 2011 at 4:40 pm

@bajabusta I think this is the most viewed video because Hammond bought one of these for a Top Gear Challenge

monkeyboy27476 says in November 29th 2011 at 5:19 pm

@bajabusta ugly, slow and poor quality?

tom11zz884 says in November 29th 2011 at 6:14 pm
