mitsubishi truck?

Question by rick: mitsubishi truck?
2.0 engine……starts ok but acts like choke not wroking, misses, runs rough until engine warms up
1987 gas engine 127k miles, started in March this year, gotten worse…did notice that after a clod start choke plate does close completely (180 degrees), looks more like 90 degree angle

Best answer:

Answer by FJ40spencer
did it start happening during this winter? did it do it last winter? what year is it?…here is what im thinking…either winter gas (some/most gas stations change what is in thier fuel during winter months) doesnt agree with it (along with millions of other pre ’90s vehicles) or it is missing and needs a tune up.

Sounds like the choke plate may be sticking open. There are questions to ask(like year, make model, fuel delivery system), but a quick remedy may be spraying the choke plate area with carb spray cleaner to free up the choke plate, if you have a carburetor. Remove the air filter housing cover while the engine is cold to see whether or not the choke plate on the carb is closed or open. You may have fuel injection. If so, there is a cold start system that is controlled by the thermostat, temp sensor, and computer. If you dare not get into diagnosing your vehicle, take it to your favorite technician for an accurate diagnosis.
