Metra Kits make it easy!!! Make sure you have the latest version.,
I have used Metra install kits in the past and they are top notch. When it was time to install a new stereo in my Lincoln MKZ, I looked no further than Metra for the install kit.
I purchased the 99-5813 from Amazon and it arrived in no time. I removed the stock radio and connected all the wires for the new radio. The final step was to bolt the kit to the dash mounts. When I did this I noticed something wrong, the radio would not fit inside the dash and stuck out too far.
I sent an email to Metra tech support and, after trying a few things, it was determined that the kit I received was a first generation kit and was missing the proper mounting brackets. Gene from Metra support was great, he said that “When this kit was built, the first run was sent without these brackets and the brackets were later added”. It seems as though I received one of the older kits. Although I purchased this item from Amazon, Gene sent me a replacement kit from Metra at no charge.
Did I mention that Metra Tech Support is awesome!
So if you are ordering this kit, make sure it comes with two after market mounting brackets.
