Remember it’ll also cost you over $2k/year for insurance, and probably at least another $1k+ in repairs & maintainence (more if it’s used).
yes, early `80`s and Diesel!
read this whole thing about them…

30mpg in the city, 40 hwy, You can make your own fuel for it anyway.
free roadside assist, regardless of the age of the car
Safe, no plastic
Easy to repair
no computers, no o2 sensor, no check engine light
Engine will last for a million miles!! No car payments means Cheap to insure!
A whole lot more class than a plastic Honda Civic!!! LOL!
You don’t really want a Mercedes Benz as your first car. It’s gonna be expensive to maintain and its not gonna be that great on gas. For a 16 year old, you should go for a honda civic or something. Gets great gas mileage, very reliable, and cheaper to repair than most cars if you need repairs. Insurance is also cheaper then on a Benz. If you want a Benz, let that be your second car. Probably about 90% of errors you’ll make in your driving career will be made on your first car. It’s the car most kids usually end up messing up and learning from their mistakes. It’s also a good way to learn how to take care of a car, and be ready to get a better car in the future.
hey! i am 16 and im looking for my first car too. they are great cars, no doubt, but before i decided on a mercedes i had to take alot of things into account and make sure i could afford a mercedes.
1- if its not under warranty, or even if it is, they’re expensive to repair.
2- normal wear and tear like tires, breaks, rotors, winshield wipers, they all cost more with Mercedes.
3- You have to use premium gas, 91, if you use lower thatn you will lose fuel efficiency and performance, plus hurt your engine.
4- insurance. your insurance is going to be more, trust me, insurance companies do not like 16 year olds with mercedes. we are already at a higher risk of crashing, but then for an insurance company to have to pay for a more expensive car?
once you make sure you can afford a mercedes completely, i think that getting a Mercedes is a great choice!
I would definately recommend a C Class though, because they are still just as safe and fun to drive but they have the best fuel economy of all the mercedes. The perfect car would be a 2006 or 2007 C230 (if you go with the 07, you can put ethanol fuel in)
I would suggest any of the ‘E’ or ‘C’ class from the late 90s early 2000. These are safe and hardy cars and would appeal to your age group. Some of the dealers offer good used cars, pre-inspected and even with a warranty cover of between 3-6 months. See if you can get a deal on these lines.
There is a big misconception that Mercedes are expensive on spares and maintenance. Nothing could be further from the truth. I have known my dad to own these cars since I was born and having lived with them all along can speak with some authority. They are very reasonable to own and maintain. Further, the quality of parts is such that they last a long time, inspite of being affordable. Servicing and consummables are also very reasonable.
I would suggest a C class from about 2002 and before, or a Mid-Late 90s E class
they wont be overly reliable however
If I were you I would check out a VW Jetta….safe and great car!
i say the 2008 c300 by sister just got it as her first car and she loves it, its also nice w/ the heated seats nd AMG wheels (not the basic model, u upgrade)
I love Mercedes, dont get me wrong, but if your 16, its not really worth it. The repairs, costs of getting premium gas and all the extras are EXPENSIVE!
i dont think that s right to buy a mercedes-benz as your first car but if your realy wants it C CLASS it good
