Lyra Symposium Highlights Commercial Printing Trends: Kodak and HP Speakers and Affiliated Technology Speakers from EFI, Intel, Pharos

NEWTONVILLE, MA (PRWEB) January 13, 2005

Lyra Research’s 2005 Lyra Imaging Symposium to be held January 24–26, 2005, in Rancho Mirage, CA, will offer significant coverage of the commercial printing industry. The Symposium will explore how the demands and innovations in that segment continue to evolve in response to new technologies and global dynamics.

The Symposium’s Commercial Printing segment will start with a keynote presentation by industry leader Barbara A. Pellow, chief marketing officer and vice president of Eastman Kodak’s Graphic Communications Group. Lloyd “Grey” Held, director of Lyra’s Hard Copy Supplies Advisory Service, will present an overview of production and wide-format printing. Held will discuss how the changing dynamics of the wide-format printer market present unique industry challenges and opportunities.

This session will provide printer OEMs and ink and media vendors with answers to these key questions:

·    How will the installed base change over the next four years?

·    Which market segments are growing fastest?

·    How will lower-priced wide-format printers and media manufactured in China and Korea impact world markets?

·    Which applications are driving growth?

William P. McGlynn, vice president of HP’s Digital Publishing Initiative, will discuss the hot topic of market convergence. McGlynn will explore how innovation and product evolution are changing the technology roadmap for the commercial printing industry. Lyra’s Lloyd “Grey” Held will conclude the segment with a wrap-up presentation on Lyra’s wide-format primary research results. This session will focus on Lyra’s view of the commercial printing market and explore the impact of new technologies and global dynamics.

In addition, the 2005 Lyra Imaging Symposium will feature a new segment of speakers from related imaging technology companies. These presentations offer unique and valuable perspectives from companies offering technologies that are complementary to the core digital imaging industry. Speakers include Guy Gecht, CEO of EFI, a pioneering print server and controller solutions provider; Dale Easter, manager of the Print Imaging Vertical Market Segment at Intel Corporation, the world’s largest chip maker and a leading manufacturer of computer, networking, and communications products; and Kevin M. Pickhardt, CEO of Pharos Systems, a company focused on maximizing IT productivity and optimizing overall business performance.

In addition to the commercial printing segment, the eighth annual Lyra Imaging Symposium will feature presentations by Andrew Simonds of Microsoft, John Solomon of HP, A. J. Rogers of Xerox, and John Lang of Epson America. Leaders from HP, Laser Imaging International, Lasertone Corporation, Rhinotek Computer Products, Static Control Components, and Teckn-O-Laser will contribute to the much-anticipated aftermarket industry panel discussion. Executives from Canon, Kodak, Mitsubishi Digital Electronics, PhotoWorks, Pixel Magic Imaging, and Shutterfly will take part in a photo-printing panel discussion. Financial analysts from Cross Research, Goldman Sachs Japan, and Lehman Brothers will participate in a roundtable discussion to assess the industry’s current and future financial landscape. The broad scope of the 2005 Lyra Imaging Symposium agenda appeals not only to mid- and high-level executives but also to product marketing directors, product development leaders, strategic business development directors, imaging product sales and marketing teams, international marketing managers, and all individuals seeking an opportunity to meet and network with industry colleagues while gaining invaluable information on the digital imaging industry.
