Very sweet to be able to size down such a long paddle. A little weaker than the next size down (when fully extended) hence the four stars. If you only extend a bout 3/4, feels much sturdier. Very nice for larger boat as emergency back up you can store and hopefully never use.

In June,2009 i bought this paddle in the version which expands from 24-72 inches. I really liked the features of the paddle including the ability to extend or compress it depending on what i was using it for.The quality of the metal part of the paddle seemed good and the orange paddle part also appeared to be of good quality.Unfortunately, I had no need to use it until last week when i was fishing from a small bass boat i own and for which i primarily bought this paddle.I live on a small 35 acre lake and my trolling motor ran out of juice much to my surprise, so i started to hand paddle my way back to my dock..a distance of about 100 yards at the most.I extended the paddle to the 72 inch length and shortly after i began paddling the metal part of the paddle bent and the plastic piece which you loosen and tighten to expand or contract the paddle cracked! Ok, i figured that a paddle like this would be guaranteed for a year so i looked up my amazon acct record today only to find that my “return window” on this item expired in August ,2009!!! I can return this anyway if it is defective for a “partial refund”,but only if i pay the shipping charges. All this for what looked cosmetically like a very nice and handy paddle, but turned out to be very poor when i used it. So the purpose of this review is to say…dont buy this even if you only plan to use it in mild water like I did, and dont expect Amazon to stand behind it if you do. Over the years I have bought a lot of items from Amazon, but I will be looking for alternatives in the future due to their poor policies on returns.s

I bought it as a safety paddle for my HobieCat Bravo. Stows with a bungie and has ample strength when extended.

This paddle is perfect, extends when needed and then telescopes down for easy storage out of the way. Made of hard plastic but its plenty sturdy, cant go wrong for the money.
