Purchased this item on Monday, September 6th, and received this cable on Friday, September 10th, well before the expected arrival date. I was unsure if this cable was what I really was looking for when I wanted an alternative to the official, and pricey, accessory for my iPhone. I took the plunge at half the cost of the one from Kia themselves.

The cable arrived, and best I could tell, it is the exact same model that Kia gives you from their parts department. I promptly put it to use in my Kia Soul, and was very happy. First test was with my iPod Nano. Charges and connects with the stereo exactly as it should. Next I hooked up my iPhone. Message displays on the phone stating it is incompatible, but still worked as well as the Nano did. Charges and plays, just like I expected.

Any other Kia owners unsure if this product is what you’re looking for in alternative to the pricey “official” cable, don’t hesitate to pull the trigger on this one.

The only slight “problem” with this cable is that the length isn’t very long. Don’t expect to be able to mount your device on your windshield and still plug it in. At least not on a Soul.

Kia and Hyundai Owners Beware!, December 10, 2010

These cables DO NOT match the slight offset of the audio and USB inputs of recent model Kia (and likely Hyundai) vehicles. Rather, the male USB and audio inputs of the cable are exactly parallel and need to be forced into the slightly offset Kia inputs. As a result, the audio portion of the cable failed to reliably support audio output. The left channel would go dead unless one constantly jiggled the connector as a result of the audio plug failing to squarely seat in the audio receptacle. The cables did support all of the USB functions as promised, but not the audio on my 2010 Kia Forte and 2010 Kia Sedona. Believe me, I really wanted these cables to work!… and ended up purchasing the Kia cables at $40 each (ouch) as a last resort. The Kia OEM cables were outrageously expensive, but fit the inputs perfectly and worked great. In summary, if the audio input on your vehicle appears to be slightly higher than the USB input, beware that these cables may not work. On a positive note, the seller from which I bought the cables was excellent about crediting me for the return of the cables.

This item was exactly as described. I have the iPhone 4 and the 2010 Kia Soul. As pointed out by another commenter when you first attach the phone you get an on screen message stating that all functions might not work correctly, it all actually works fine. The cable allows you to access all iPod functions through the sterio and steering wheel controls. It also charges the unit. Highly recommend. Great price and speedy delivery.
