Is it normal that the speed of BMW 550i will reduce quickly if releasing the gas panel?
Question by Jun L: Is it normal that the speed of BMW 550i will reduce quickly if releasing the gas panel?
Hi,
I just bought a used BMW 550i. When on the road, its speed will reduce quickly if I release my foot from the gas panel, even I don’t step on break at all. Is it the way BMW designed for?
Thanks a lot.

High compression performance engines are known for that. It’s normal.

1 auto or manual.
2 if its manual in gear yes it will slow as the motor goes to low rpm…
3 push in clutch see if it coasts or if brakes are sticking
4 auto tranny will coast better as the tranny has fluid coupling [torque converter]
