How reliable can I expect a 2000 Land Rover Range Rover to be?
I was also considering a 93-95 Land Rover Range Rover Classic County LWB. I wanna know which would be more reliable.

i heard bad things about land rovers but i don;t really knwo for sure
Sorry, not that great. I know a guy that had a 2000 or 2001 and everything was very expensive to fix. They got lots of stuff fixed until the warranty expired, but after that you’re screwed. If you want a luxury SUV, I’d look into maybe a Lexus or another brand.
I have a Rangey and its 2000 and has never (touching wood) given me any probs get the one with BMW gear in and you wont have any trouble I love it ,if you want a classic then they are a bit of a worry but for offroading they are great .Whatever one you get enjoy it i am going to get the new shape soon because i love this one so much and will keep it too.Good Luck.
It should not break down more than twice a month.
Get anything but a LandRover.
Make sure you get one that hasn’t been 4WDing because then it will be in good condition
The newer one night be more reliable but I wouldn’t be totally sure, I mean, the older one is older but the newer ones sometimes aren’t that great
If you go for the 2.5 diesel made by BMW then engine wise you will have few troubles. The problem lies mainly with the air suspension and electrical niggles/ bodywork. However they are a cult car and as such have huge knowledgeable forums and owners groups and someone will always know how to fix it or stop it from going in the first place.
They can be expensive to fix but then, what isn’t these days?
As for Land Rovers……they don’t call them Solihul Sheds for nothing!. Their ride quality and general refinement is awful. They are still build as a working vehicle that has to earn its keep, IE farmers/forestry/waterboard etc. It is not in any way shape or form meant to be a serious alternative to a ROAD biased 4×4 such as the Range Rover or X5 for example.
Personally if you have to have one of the two I would chose the Range Rover. If you want the same style and commanding road presence and reliability I’d go for a Jeep Cherokee or a Toyota Landcruiser/ Mitzi Shogun. All of those have all the toys fitted as standard and they are reliable and build well ( the Jeep especially so)
