How much would a ford v8 small block cost to rebuild?
I have a Ford V8 351C small block engine, it’s starting to reach 100,000 miles, and I am looking to rebuild the engine, what should I be paying to get this done?
Well big problems, 351C 100,000 miles, about to throw a connecting rod through the block!

Wait till you have 200,000 miles, unless something went wrong that is causing oil consumption or something.
While you could rebuild it yourself for about $200 in parts and machining, typically it costs more like $2000. But a rebuilt shortblock in exchange is more like $800.
Typically people buy salvage engines when theirs is worn, for about $600.
So why rebuild, unless you simply enjoy the hobby?
Depends on what it needs and just what you want. If you want an overhaul the rings, bearings, and gaskets around $250 plus $1000 labor. If you want it rebuilt like new with new rings, bearings, gaskets, cam, cam bearings, oil pump, lifters, valve job, boil the block. new freeze plugs, valve springs, bore it and new pistons if the cylinders are worn, deck the heads if needed, etc. you could have $3000 in parts and machine work plus labor. A rebuilt engine is done properly with any needed parts and/or machine work. Most people say they have a rebuilt engine with just an overhaul and didn’t even measure for wear on the cam, or measure the valve spring pressure and reused the oil pump etc. This is not a rebuild it is an overhaul.
Depends on how much of the work your doing yourself, and what its for. Sounds like your going to need a rotating assembly, and a good one from Eagle will be around $1500.Just the machine work could cost you, boring, heads, cam bearings etc. I’d check on long block from a good parts store and you will get a 2-3 year warranty, and some with unlimited millage for around $2000. and $500 to install.
A lot of answers and none too good. The cost will depend on what you have done and what parts you replace. If this engine is in a “classic” do NOT replace it with an engine from some parts store. It would not be a correct date code unit for your vehicle and would effect the value. You can spend a lot if you intend on doing performance upgrades or less if you want it stock. Check prices at a local machine shop and parts store to see what your specific build will run.
