How long will a Stage 1 Saab 9-2X/WRX daily driver last?

Question by Cobb Perrin: How long will a Stage 1 Saab 9-2X/WRX daily driver last?
Hi! I can get a great deal on a 2005 Saab 9-2X, which is mechanically identical to a 2005 Subie WRX. I am thinking of using Cobb’s Accessport to reflash the ecu to Stage 1.

Given that the car is in great condition, will it make it to 200,000 miles running the Stage 1 program without any major repairs?

I consider major repairs to be stuff like valve and turbo problems.

Best answer:

Answer by I <3 my Suby.
It will depend on how well the car has been maintained so far and how well you maintain it. As far as the Cobb maps, they are more reliable and safer then the factory Subaru tunes so there is nothing to worry about there.

what is the car’s current mileage? Timing belt should be replace at 90k and 180k. Then if you have the manual shift, you may need to replace the fluid at around 100k. Those are not major cost…but on stage 1, how much boost you going to put? is that 14 or more? The more, the easier the engine will fail…

I have been running Cobb Stage 2 on my 04 WRX for 45k miles with zero issues. The car has never needed any repair with 57k miles currently on it. I don’t abuse it, but drive it hard and do routine maintenance. No car is bulletproof and immune to abuse. I can’t guarantee that it will make it to 200k miles without major repair, but that is what I plan on doing with mine. Buy it, mod it, and enjoy it.
