Car battery is a lead acid storage battery, known as the heart of the vehicle’s electrical system, installed in an automobile. It is usually a 12-volt battery of six cells that needs to be replaced when damaged or heavily loaded.

 

It is believed that there was less number of car accessories twenty to thirty years ago. Gradually with the advent of technology and innovation, advanced accessories came into picture that further increased the pressure and load on the battery. Not only in international car market but even Indian car market today is crowded with a number of car models that are embellished with abandon electrical systems and car accessories. Adorned with accessories like interior lights, audio system, air condition, and powered features, which eventually reduces the lifespan of a car battery.

 

Every car battery has a limited lifespan, the span in which in operates with all its power to run the electrical systems in the car with higher levels of efficiency. When used in excess, the efficiency of the battery reduces and slowly it dies usually because of sulphation on the battery plates which hinders the contact between the plate and electrolyte. This stops the production of electricity from the battery and this is when the battery actually needs reviving or reconditioning.

 

The lifespan of the battery differs based upon its use. It completely depends on the time span when the car’s air condition, car audio system, headlights, and the engine are working. If the air condition is switched on daily during long driving hours and if the audio systems are functional throughout the drive it will consume more power from the battery. If in case the car driver forgets to turn off the headlamp after drive and it remains open over the night, it may consumer much of the battery’s power, no matter even if the engine is switched off.
