Pros: Looks great. Plenty of fans. I have a red case and the fan with red LED’s in the front looks awesome. This case has room for 2 hard drives and one optical drive. If that is all you need it’s a great case. I’ve heard some large video cards have issues fitting in the case, so beware, but plenty of people have two large video cards in it. It has two temperature sensors you can move anywhere in the case and temp displays by red LCD. It’s probably the sharpest looking case you can buy for around $100. The optical drive mounts under the front case face (easy access to mount) and opens downward. Click the side lever to open, load your CD and click the side lever and it closes (more on that below). It’ has two USB slots in the front plus mic and headphone jacks. I recommend putting the rig on top of your desk because it just looks so cool.
Would definitely recommend this case if you don’t mind the limited bays available (2HD, 1 CDROM) no floppy. No power supply, but not really a neg. since good power supplies don’t usually come in $100 cases.
Cons: facing forward, but on the side of the case there are red/green LEDs that constantly flash. I put my case on an angle because it can be quite annoying. It indicates fan speed, which you can adjust (high or low), so at least it serves a purpose, but non-flashing LEDs indicating high/low would be better. I’ve not seen anyone complain about this in other reviews, but the bottom lip of my CD holder catches on the moveable door (the case door for the optical drive) when I click the lever to close the CD ROM. You can just help the CD to close or just hold the case door open till it closes, but that takes away from the cool factor and slightly annoying. I have another CD ROM to try, which doesn’t really have a lip on the CD holder. SHould work properly after that. Some people think the cover over the CD ROM comes off too easy. It is easy to get off, but it never falls off if I just bump into it. You have to want it off.
All in all, you won’t be disappointed if you read this review first and accept the reality of what this case is before you buy.
EDITED: Just an FYI. Fixed the problem with the CD ROM door on the case not closing. There are two springs on each side of the door. Each spring makes two points of contact with the case which make the spring work. The lower point of contact can easily be adjusted by releasing the spring from it’s current position and allowing it to hang freely. Just slide the straight part of the spring toward the middle (rather than outer) part of the case and it will now make loose contact with the case at a slightly higher point when you open the CD tray. It gives just enough tension to allow the case CD ROM cover to close properly, but not so much force as to prevent the CD tray from closing on it’s own. I also tried another CD ROM and it closed without the “spring mod”, but it still pressed on the CD tray too hard. Good Luck.
