I headed the advice from previous buyers and bought this bike with the idea that I might receive a damaged product. I did. The front and back rims are bent, the gears came 50% assembled and had no instruction on how to complete assembly, the bike comes without a single quick disconnect on anything, the derailleur has miscellaneous plastic parts, and the brakes and shifters are junk. The way I look at it, I bought a frame for $170 and will have to buy everything else separately. This bike out of the box is unrideable and unsafe. Do not expect to hop on this one right away. If you are looking for an inexpensive way to get into road racing and you do not want to assemble your bike from the ground up; spend more and buy something with more quality from top to bottom.

I bought the GMC for training for my first triathlon. This bike is great for the money. I have used it for about three months now and have no complaints.

I bought this bike to do my first sprint triathlon. Of course it is not as good as most of the $1000 bikes that the rest of the riders had, but it was a great beginner bike. After a quick tune-up it has ridden perfectly.

The Biggest Con: This bike has an extremely short frame, which helps cause toe-overlap, and quite honestly the bike really has “pedal-overlap”. Simply turning the wheel causes the pedal to hit and that’s with no one on the bike. Go on a ride and pretty much it’s half your foot overlap. I’m only 5’5″, so not too lanky for this short frame. Sure toe-overlap is common on road bikes, but this is pretty extreme by any standard.

If you are a beginner trying to get a road bike, save your money for something better. Sorry but this one is scary and dangerous for a novice or pro.

Overall, this is a good bike for the money. It is a bit on the heavy side for a road bike, but better that than being too flimsy. The bike is easy to put together if you have at least half a brain and works great with only a minor tune up. The one thing I didn’t like about assembly was that apparently an impact wrench was used at the factory to attach the wheels, making them near impossible to get off without using an impact wrench. Other than that though, no problems. The bike rides well and shifts precisely after the cables have been set. One thing to note though, a standard size bike water bottle is too big to fit where the cage attaches. Also, the bars are the size used on mountain bikes, so road bike accessories won’t fit. Overall though, I would say this is an excellent beginners road bike. Once the seat was replaced, no extra parts were needed to make it ride great. It is a great bike to get into cycling without spending a lot of money.
