Do I have a serious electrical problem with my 1992 Eagle Premier?
Question by nicklepickle97: Do I have a serious electrical problem with my 1992 Eagle Premier?
I was driving 1992 Eagle Premier LX down the road one day, and my stupid friend was holding down the cigarette lighter down for at least 2-3 minutes, and it had started a small fire inside/underneath my dashboard. So I had to pull over because the car was full of smoke from the small fire under my dashboard. We then got the car turned off, got everything aired out, and then when i started the car, the heat wouldn’t work (and was stuck on air conditioning, full blast, and I cant turn it off, because it will not let me control it…), along with the cigarette lighter, rear defrost… So after I got home, and I went to go look at the fuse for the heat, which is fuse #9, and it was totally melted in the fuse socket… so I replaced the fuse, and everytime I put one in, it will pop the fuse right away, it says in the manual that there should be a 20-Amp yellow fuse, and thats what im using when I replace the fuse…So what im thinking is – Is there wires melted together someplace in my dash? Or could it be something else? Thank you for Helping with my Car Problem…

Yes, wires melted in the dash somewhere, creating new circuits to ground. You will need to replace the damaged wires.
