“Most passenger vehicles today are designed with a unibody frame rather than the classic body-on-frame found on older vehicles. Although unibodies are lighter, they were mainly designed for impact absorption so that damage could be isolated into certain areas of the car body. With this in mind, a unibody vehicle would not be suitable for handling because of its natural tendency to flex while cornering. The strut bar works to tie together the weak point of the unibody by bracing the shock towers, linking the opposing sides of the suspension, creating a support base that will work in unison while cornering rather than work against each other by flexing. The overall feel of the strut bar will be improved steering response, quicker nose turn in while cornering, and reduced nose dip while braking.”
