Purchased this for a 04 Chevy Silverado Z-71. After messing with this for over an hour and a half, it is now installed. We had to rethread it so that we could actually get a bolt to screw in and the bolt that was sent was a weird thread so we ended up using our own. It also doesn’t allow my tailgate handle to completely lower when you let go of it because the it is hitting the lock. I would not purchase this product. Chevrolet ought to standardize this on every new truck so we don’t have to deal with that. We will see how long this piece of crap lasts, from the other reviews, it looks like not very long.

I have a 2006 Sierra, and the Bully LH-003 is the perfect aftermarket lock for anyone who has a tonneau cover. Very easy installation and the instructions are straight forward. I had the “pop lock” before, and the “pop lock” is no where near as nice as the Bully.

I would also recommend buying some “locktite blue,” to safely secure the screw that attaches to the lock.

This item does not fit a 2010 Chevrolet Silverado as Bully says. I ordered one from streetsideauto and it does not match. Now I am fighting with them over the return fees.

I bought and installed this unit on my ’02 Silverado back when it was new. I paid about $25 for it back then. I dont understand why GM does not install locks standard on all their pickup tailgates; Ford and Nissan puts locks on at least some of their tailgates. For that matter it’s also stupid that the glovebox doesnt lock, but I digress.

Installing this lock makes the tailgate look more secure and would probably give a thief a second thought. I feel a lot better knowing that the little plastic overhang of the cap door is not the only thing protecting my stuff in the bed, or for that matter keeping someone from walking off with the tailgate itself – which comes out in the blink of an eye on every pickup I’ve had since ’90.

The lock was easy to install, took about 30 minutes. Now that I am familiar with it, it would probably take me about 10 minutes to install one.

It is now 8 years old, but the tumbler has rusted into uselessness and I am going to get another one to replace it with. I guess you cant get much better recommendation than “I bought one, used it and am going to buy another”.

I bought 2 of these. I installed one on my 2002 silverado without any issues in less than 15 minutes and works great. The second one I installed on my grandpa’s 2003 silverado and had issues with the screws. The screws did not thread into the female end, luckily we had a tap to thread it. Took 3 times as long to install, but worked well afterwards. Would’ve given it 5 stars if it werent for quality issues!!Bully LH-003 Full Size Tailgate Lock
