Buffalo Jack, November 8, 2010

I bought this jack for my wife to use in her car. It’s light weight and comes with a sturdy case. All well done with the important exception of the small cradle at the top of the jack that is intended to support the car. It broke in two pieces about half way up and shot across the cement garage floor with enough force to cause injury. This bent the underlaying u-bracket that was suddenly left holding the front end of one side of the car off the ground. Two-ton capacity – I would have to say this is unrealistice – I was jacking up an unloaded Honda Accord.
An unsafe product in my experience, and a real shame because for a dollar or two more in manufacturing the product could be made reliable and useful. I wouldn’t use this device on a bet due to the pot-metal used to make the four-way cradle that is intended to support 2,200 lbs?!
Sincerely,
RM

Great Jack, December 2, 2010

I have eight cars and I bought this because I hate jacking the car by hand, esp when using the small jack provided by the car manufacturer. I have a garage jack, but who brings that with them?
Anyways, I bought it and it has sit in my garage for two years until recently and I’m wondering why it took me so long to use it? I jacked up my wife’s Lexus and a friend’s miata with no problem.
The guy that had an issue with the pad at the top of the jack, you have to either evenly load the weight on the pad or if you’re using the slot, make sure the weight is slotted correctly, otherwise you’ll have no problem. When I say “slotted” correctly, you have to make sure the frame where it drops in isn’t bent and it goes in perpendicular to the floor and parallel to the slot. Sounds like “user error” to me. I do, however, agree that perhaps it should be made of a more durable material.

My next test is to have the jack lift my Chevy 2500 Duramax truck. I might have to put it on pavers. Before I do that I’ll check the weight limit on this jack.
Update 12/2: I guess it won’t lift my truck as it has a capacity of 2k lbs. Truck is too high anyways, but it’s no problem with any of my other cars.
Gary

This jack is great. I tried it on a jeep that weighs 6K pounds and it effortlessly raised the wheel so that I could change the tire. It’s easy to use and easy to store in it heavy duty plastic case. Remember you are only raising 1/4 of the car not the whole things. So this jack is perfect for the job.

If you are over 60 years in age and change your own tires or may be stuck in a place where you have to change it yourself. This jack is the ticket and is very reasonably priced for seniors.

As they say don’t leave home without one.
