@888shelly888 ILL HAPPILY TAKE THAT 4RUNNER OFF YOUR HANDS, ALL I NEED IS THE TITLE AND KEYS!

Nicely done. Enjoyed the humor as well.

You know what I hate? When reviewers review it like its a crossover. It’s an off road ute! Consumer Reports complained that it’s body on frame consturction gave it bad ride quality and complained about it’s muscular interior. Everything they whined about would be fixed in a highlander. If you buy a 4runner you know what you are getting and off road vehicle, not a soccer mom car.

“they do a great job with utilizing every single cubic centimeter durr hurrr.” he has no idea what he’s talking about. 12-13 mpg? He’s a fucking idiot. City driving in my 04 4runner(same engine, but with single vvt-i) I get about 18 mpg. Cruising at 70 mph or so I get 25 mpg.

I’d rather have a land cruiser if the 4 runner gets something like 13 miles per gallon…

“Frame on body”? Only in Russia.

@rsxzx6r My dad was going 90 km/h, I know you guys hate km (im canadian), and he hit a heavy plumbing truck that was running a red, he said it felt like a bad ski crash and nothing more! In most cars you’d be lucky to tell the tale, let alone walk away from it!

DreadlockDrummer says in August 28th 2011 at 7:07 pm

i love everything about this new 4runner except the smart key. if i ever have money for one, i would get the trail edition, with all the special features, except i fucking hate that damn “smart key” !! cant they just leave keys along and give me a normal one, when i get in my car i enjoy taking all my keys out of my pocket and letting them hang near the steering wheel for a while, i dont wanna sacrifice a cup holder or getting a fancier model just so i can get a normal key. maybe its just me.

Sooners4ever25 says in August 28th 2011 at 7:17 pm

Well duh the reason your getting 13-14 mpg is because your driving a 4×4. Thats gonna take it down some even if your not using it.

Thinking about buying a Limited model and stumbled upon your review. Great review, good energy! Too many reviews out there that put me to sleep, keep it up!

markiepolaris78 says in August 28th 2011 at 9:18 pm

@888shelly888 Wait, I’m far more rest assured driving our 2004 Toyota 4Runner Limited 4×4 than the 2001 Ford Exploder we used to own till we traded it for the ’04 $Runner. The 4Runner has a sturdier sheetmetal than the thin gauged one in the ’01 Explorer we have. Plus the 4 Runner has a fully boxed frame that our Explorer lacked having a C-frame instead. Explorer roof was softer.

rsxzx6r says in August 28th 2011 at 9:19 pm

@888shelly888 stop lyin….4runner is one of the most reliable vehicles in the world….and “all the media” crap was associated with the camry ….not one mention of the 4runner….AND DO YOU LIKE TYPING IN ALL CAPS FOR A REASON?…

rsxzx6r says in August 28th 2011 at 10:14 pm

“75% of all 4runners still on the road”….that is an amazing percentage….most companies cant claim that…..i wonder the percentage of dodge neons on the road?…if any left…lol

888shelly888 says in August 28th 2011 at 11:12 pm

I WAS ALMOST KILLED IN MY TOYOTA ’06 4 RUNNER ON NUMEROUS OCCASIONS WITH MY TWO YEAR OLD IN THE BACK! NEVER EVER EVER WILL I BUY ANOTHER TOYOTA!! THIS WAS BEFORE ALL THIS CRAP WAS IN THE MEDIA…THEY TOLD ME IT WAS MY FLOOR MATS!! TO BAD MY ATTORNEYS PROVED OTHERWISE. I HAVE BEEN CONTACTED FROM AROUND THE GLOBE FROM LAWYERS THAT HAVE CASES AGAINST TOYOTA. THIS IS A REAL PROBLEM….WAIT UNTIL THESE CARS GET HIGER MILES AND ARE KILLING NOT ONLY THE PEOPLE DRIVING THEM BUT ALSO THE INNOCENT!

CatEatingAliens says in August 28th 2011 at 11:54 pm

hey man this is Franky Wilde! get back in Ibiza, the summer is coming ! :) )))

icanafforditt says in August 29th 2011 at 12:32 am

@Zinizzle Agreed 100%. the “big 3″ execs have risen to their own level of incompetence. they cant build a vehicle anymore. Even this version of the 4 runner is better then anything else. But I wont buy another until they clean up this MESS of a 4runner. and, they better be built in Japan, or the quality goes down by 68.2% laughter. Anyways, if you hear of a major O/H coming down, let me know and I’ll do the same from my side. Great talking to you!

Zinizzle says in August 29th 2011 at 12:53 am

@icanafforditt Haha, it actually does look less attractive and cheaper in my opinion. Still not as cheap as any of the products from the big 3, but not as near the quality you found in previous generations. And the reason they probably discontinued the height adjustment option, it was probably too costly. But the price hasn’t been lowered lol. Toyota has a reputation for dependability and quality to maintain, so they better push an early refresh on these. I’m waiting until THEN to buy one.

icanafforditt says in August 29th 2011 at 1:12 am

@Zinizzle Holy _ _ _ _. someone who knows whats going on! OK, here’s my questions to you: I’ve had these since the the late 80′s. 1) IYO, does this truck look like crap compared to previous years, or is it just me? would they change ? 2) the 04 has height control, which I really like and the new does not. they claim its a PITA, but its on the lexus series. comment? 3) for a truck with an Off road rep, why use19″ low riders on the LTD? stupidity? 4) would u buy one?

Zinizzle says in August 29th 2011 at 1:54 am

@icanafforditt Yup, still reinforced body on frame. 4×4 is part-time on every trim except Limited models, both systems used a lockable Torsen center differential. And a Coil-spring independent double-wishbone front suspension with stabilizer bar; coil-spring 4-link with lateral rod rear suspension with stabilizer bar. Hopefully Toyota will give it an EARLY mid-cycle refresh, because I don’t like the high belt line, Really hurts visibility. And the interior materials NEED an update.
