Americana Manhasset Presents Speed and Beauty, 7th Annual Concours D’Elegance

The 7th Annual Americana Manhasset Concours d’Elegence, will take place on Sunday, October 23. The event has grown into one of New York’s premier luxury car events featuring 200 rare, privately owned cars that compete for Best in Show as well as Best in Class titles.
The 2011 event is entitled, Speed and Beauty. In keeping with this theme, Americana Manhasset will highlight some truly exceptional cars including the 1932 Franay Bodied J 446 Duesenburg, once driven by Queen Marie of Yugoslavia, 1953 Bentley R type Franay bodied Fastback, a 1978 Aston Martin V8 Vantage Fliptail Coupe with 6.3 liter engine, a 1957 300 SL Mercedes Benz Gulwing, 1966 Ferrari 275 GTB, 1969 512 S Ferrari, and a 1994 McLaren F1 (list in formation).
This year, we are pleased to welcome Ercole Spada as our guest of honor. Mr. Spada is a noted automotive design engineer and has worked with world-renowned design firms including Zagato and Ghia. His designs include models for Aston Martin, Alfa Romeo, Lancia, Lamborghini, Ford, BMW, Fiat, and the I.DE.A. Institute. Mr. Spada designed some of the most iconic cars of the 20th century including the Aston Martin DB4 GTZ, the Alfa Romeo Giulietta and the Giulietta Coda Tronca, and the BMW 7 and 5 series. In 2006, he established Spadaconcept, a design studio in Turin, Italy with Domiziano Boschi, Wojtek Sokolowski and his son Paolo Spada.
Other international guests include Paolo Garella, an automotive design engineer consultant based in Turin, Italy.
Official judging begins at 9:30 am. Howard Krimko, National Director, Rolls Royce Owners Club, will serve as Chief of Judges for the event. The results of the competition and the award presentation, courtesy of Tiffany & Co., will take place at 2pm on the north side of Americana Manhasset. Event sponsors include Talon Air, Plycon Transportation, Deutsche Bank, and Long Island Plastic Surgical Group.
