Alpine’s V Series is a nice series of mid-grade amplifiers. They aren’t high end, but they price is isn’t “high end” either. They are efficient and work well with vehicles that don’t exactly have a lot of extra amps available for powering amplifiers. I run an MRP-M500 and an MRP-F300 in my Honda Fit and they both supply me with good, clean power without taxing my car’s electrical system.

In my system, the M500 is powering a 12″ subwoofer in a small, sealed box. That’s not exactly a formula for maximum bass impact, but the M500 does a great job pushing my subwoofer to its fullest potential. The Class-D circuitry makes the amp very efficient so that it will work well in most vehicles electrical systems.

The only downside I’ve found is that the EQ functions are rather limited. You get controls for center frequency, crossover point, and bass boost. It makes it a little more difficult to get a smooth sound between this amp and your four-channel amp. It just takes longer than if there were more EQ controls. Also, the bass boost puts a definite peak in its frequency output so that the amplitude drops off above and below the center frequency. That means that if you want to get the maximum power output, your range is going to be somewhat limited.

Overall, I’m very happy with the M500. As long as you’re not looking to power a massive, inefficient subwoofer, it should give you a very smooth, musical sound.

The Alpine M500 is a wonderful little amp for subs. I have it installed under my drivers seat and it fits perfectly. I have 2 Kicker CVR 10s running off this beauty. The amp puts out good power and is very stable. I have not had a problem with it yet. I have had it in for about a year and it has held up and works great. I am running my amp on 2-ohm impedance and it performs wonderfully.

If your looking for great value and great sound, get this amp. It is a wonderful starter amp that will perform beautifully.

If you currently own The Alpine Type R Sub, or any sub with an RMS of 500 watts, this is the amp for you! Handles power well. Easy to connect, and has a built in Crossover.
