After market parts for a 1985 Cadillac Cimarron?
Question by T. D: After market parts for a 1985 Cadillac Cimarron?
I’ve just bought this car and I’m dying to do something special with it. It has a four cylinder 2.0, a nasty red vinyl interior. It looks like older Cavalier with Cadillac symbols all over it. Any thoughts on what I could do to improve it or should just emter it in a demolition derby and be done with it?

Not strong enough to take a hit in the radatior Those Cimmarons were cruddy cars when new. Remove the radatior and plumb the hoses to the trunk mount the radatior in the trunk And slam it into something for me.
It looks like an older Cavalier with Cadillac symbols all over it because that is exactly what it is. It is perhaps General Motor’s biggest marketing disaster, for which they are still paying for in lost Cadillac sales over 20 years later. That being said, it could be a pretty cool car. It is, after all, a Cadillac… Sort of. It’s rare, too. Most of them are in junkyards. Get it painted at Earl Scheib for cheap, and get some cheap seat covers, a killer stereo, black out the windows, and maybe lower it. Don’t put a lot of money in it, except for the stereo because you can always pull that out. Get it to the point where it looks “good from far, but far from good”.
Unless you just want to keep it as an oddity, (and believe me, it was odd when brand new) then demolition sounds fun!
You are correct in relating this to a Cavalier — that is exactly what it is. Every piece of interior trim will fit (though it won’t match the Cadillac) so you could actually find a junker Cavalier and transplant the entire interior if you wanted…for whatever reason. It is rare but I’m afraid you will have to keep it for another twenty years to become valuable.
