1993 audi 100-5amp fuse for dashboard burns out right away after installing?
Question by L for LLLLAMA: 1993 audi 100-5amp fuse for dashboard burns out right away after installing?
Dashboard has no lights. Any clues on which fuse might be shorting? Anyone expereinced something similar? Are there any other sites where I can ask questions to audi owners? ThANKS.

There is a short some where.
If you installed anything in the dash, check out what you did.
If there is an aftermarket sound system installed recheck all the wiring. Some thing is drawing current that exceeds the fuse rating. If you just put a bigger fuse in you might develop a fire.
Wiring problems are hard to find. It could be some one has put a pin through a wire to cause a short, or a wire has frayed. But most likely there has been something wired into the wrong place for non-factory equipment.

You obviously have a powered wire grounding somewhere either through relay, connector or chaffed wire. Sorry there are no shortcuts for a problem like this.
Mabe u need to trace the wires because it sounds like something is touching.
